Privacy Policy

Kin AI ("we", "us", "our") is an AI companion app that lets you create AI versions of people you miss. We are the data controller for your personal information. You can reach us at hi@kinai.app.

We collect the following information when you use Kin AI:

• Account information — email address, name, and authentication credentials.
• Profile data — information you provide about the people you recreate (name, personality, speaking style, relationship).
• Conversation content — messages, voice notes, and call recordings between you and your AI companions.
• Uploaded content — chat history exports (WhatsApp, iMessage) and voice recordings you choose to upload.
• Usage data — app activity, feature usage, crash reports, and device information.
• Payment information — processed securely through our payment provider. We do not store your card details.

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the Kin AI service
• Generate AI responses that reflect the people you've created
• Send daily check-in messages from your AI companions
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We make these commitments unconditionally:

• We will never read your conversations for any purpose other than operating the service.
• We will never sell your personal data to third parties.
• We will never use your conversations to train AI models — ours or anyone else's.
• We will never share your data with advertisers.

All conversation data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard encryption (AES-256) for stored data and TLS for all data transmitted between your device and our servers.

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. If you are located in the EU, data transfers are covered under standard contractual clauses.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete all your personal data, conversation history, and uploaded content within 30 days.

You can delete individual AI companions or your entire account at any time from within the app.

We use the following third-party services to operate Kin AI:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Stripe — payment processing
• AI model providers — for generating responses (your data is not used to train their models under our agreements)

These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us.

Kin AI is not intended for users under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at hi@kinai.app.

The "Spicy mode" feature (romantic personas) is restricted to users who are 18 or older and requires explicit opt-in.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent at any time

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Kin AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
